Frequently Asked Questions

Who founded Regenified?

Regenified was co-founded by Gabe Brown, Allen Williams, Doug Peterson, and Salar Shemirani in 2022.

  • Gabe Brown is a pioneering farmer in the soil health movement. His widely-read book, “Dirt to Soil: A Family’s Journey into Regenerative Agriculture” chronicles how he turned around his 5,000 acre farm and ranch near Bismarck, North Dakota through soil health principles since the 1990s. Gabe was inducted into the North Dakota Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2025.
  • Dr. Allen Williams is a sixth generation farmer, ag research scientist, and tireless champion for regenerative agriculture around the world. He is a renowned expert in adaptive grazing models, humane animal husbandry, and environmental stewardship and earned a Ph.D. in Animal Genetics and Physiology from Louisiana State University.
  • Doug Peterson is a highly respected soil scientist and Missouri farmer. Doug spent 32 years at the NRCS educating thousands of row crop and livestock producers on soil health practices and regenerative agriculture’s impact on natural resource processes as a District Conservationist, State Grassland Conservationist, State Soil Health Specialist, and Regional Soil Specialist. Doug’s agronomic expertise and hands-on experience working with farmers across the nation has made him a trusted voice and teacher in the regenerative movement.
  • Salar Shemirani is an advocate for regenerative agriculture. Prior to Regenified, Salar held leadership roles in asset management and transactions across the UK and North America, working with organizations in transportation, agriculture, and infrastructure. Today, as CEO of Regenified, Salar brings a deep commitment to building meaningful partnerships and guiding strategic growth. His focus remains clear: to support farmers and rural communities in creating more resilient, financially secure futures—and to help regenerative agriculture take root and thrive across the world
What does Regenified aspire to do?

Our goal is to change agriculture at scale to reverse longstanding degenerative trends such as the loss of arable land, broken water cycles, unworkable farming economics, and the diminishing nutritive value of crops and animal products. Regenerative agriculture is the solution for these problems—farming in synchrony with nature through the six principles of soil health, three rules of adaptive stewardship, and four ecosystem processes. Our core purpose is to accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture by:

  • Providing data-driven regenerative agricultural narratives that empower farmers to get recognized for the difference they are making on their land and in their products
  • Certifying products and validating supply chains to bring transparency and credibility to regenerative agriculture claims
  • Enabling brands to connect with regenerative growers and find shelf space with retailers for Certified Regenified products
  • Creating trust for consumers—that a product that bears the Regenified mark was grown using regenerative practices to create positive ecological outcomes
What is the value of Regenified's certification?

The value of verification comes down to knowledge, community, and recognition—tangible benefits that drive real impact.

Through a rigorous, science-based verification process, you gain deep insight into how your practices are improving soil health, advancing regenerative outcomes, and making your operation more resilient, profitable, and healthy. It’s not only about data—it’s about direction, with clear guidance rooted in regenerative principles and measurable results.

You become part of a growing community of forward-thinking farmers and supply chain experts, all committed to education, continuous improvement, and sharing knowledge that moves the movement forward.

And you get recognized in a rapidly expanding regenerative marketplace—for being Certified Regenified™. That means credibility with buyers, transparency for consumers, and access to exclusive Regenified benefits, like downstream markets that pay a premium, and discounts on inputs like cover crop seed. (Note: Regenified does not take commission.)

Is Regenified approved by the USDA?

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has evaluated Regenified’s standards and determined that they are credible and reliable. Certified Regenified is the first regenerative seal to be accepted on USDA inspected products. Regenified is the first regenerative certifier to be approved by the USDA’s Agriculture Marketing Service (AMS) through the AMS Process Verified Program (PVP).

Do consumers really care about regenerative agriculture?

Consumer awareness of regenerative agriculture has grown steadily in the last five years. Regenified conducted an in-depth study on their values and behavior, finding that 56% of Values-Based Shoppers and 89% of the Emerging Regenerative Market will pay a premium for regenerative products, if they can find them.
